As noted elsewhere our annual Santa Maria Barbecue will take place on Saturday September 12th at 6:30 pm. I think it is useful to review how the proceeds from former barbecues have been put to use. In the past ten years more than $50,000 has been raised from donations and in kind contributions and the following projects have been fully or partially paid from these funds.
*Provide pictures and furnishing for the large lobby. The furniture included 3 couches and refinishing of 24 chairs.
*Replace tables and chairs in the large dining room.
*Replace 14 windows on the front of the building with double paned insulated windows
*Remodel, expand, paint and furnish the Secretary’s office. The office now includes space for the meetings of the Temple Board and other small groups.
*Provide paint and material for painting portions of the outside of the building with special emphasis on the front porch and entrance.
*Remodel small lobby including changing wall coverings, removal of drapes, purchase of wing back chairs, tables and pictures.
*Repair, re-roof and repaint garage to provide secure storage area.
*Remodel, paint and redecorate the small dining room. Replace tables and chairs.
*Re-upholster four couches.
*Replace the carpet in the large lobby.
While barbecues contributions did not pay the total costs of these improvements and repairs they did fund a substantial portion. The work done by volunteers also contributed substantially to these projects.
We appreciate everyone’s support and hope to see many of you at the barbecue on the 12th. -
